PHOTOGRAPHIE 4/2007 ---> "Yotta Kippe - discovered by Ute Noll"

Since Issue 1/2007 the german photo magazin PHOTOGRAPHIE has commissioned Ute Noll with a monthly column: "photographers`of the future - discoverd by Ute Noll".  In issue 4/2007 she presented Berlin based artist Yotta Kippe.

Yotta Kippe´s work is exploring general questions of identity. She therefore took so far exactely two portraits of herself, which she than digitally deconstructed and altered until they were not mirroring her any longer. Therefore the portraits have become more universal and some of them nearly dissolve.

Self-Image - A Step Inside ---> Catalogue of the Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie, 2006

Self-Image - a Step Inside

A large part of the main exhibit show photographs that initially originated in the desire of the artist to understand their own biography and its' meaning, but the definitions often went well beyond that. The quality of the work shown is characterised not only by intuitive themes, but also reflective ones, such as loneliness, fear and disappointment or closeness and desire.

Waiting for the dial tone ---> published as text for artist edition

 Waiting for the dial tone

It is night. Lights are shining. Dangers are lurking. A car is driving aimlessly around. A lone house appears, brightly lit, dark windows barred. Cries are fading in the night, and the phone does not have a dial tone any longer. The artists April Gertler, Barak Reiser and Gianluca Maver are intrigued by the night. They often set out - independent of one another - to photograph places and objects at night.
